6/7/10- The Courtney King Dye Benefit Show and  Silent Auction raises over  $4,000.00!

On June 5th, 2010,  The Courtney King Dye Benefit Horse Show and Silent Auction was held here at Letter Perfect Farm. Tornado warnings and threatening thunderstorms were no match for this determined group whose prayers, good energy and  “Rain, Rain, Go Away” song brought out the sun for the day and helped raise over $4,000.00 dollars for Courtney.  The competitors, spectators and volunteers were not only blessed with a beautiful day, but also by great judging by Jane Sheehan”r”, who graciously donated her day.  There was great excitement over the 31 wonderful items to bid on in the silent auction, the chance to win super Red Sox Tickets, the Pas De Duex and Quadrille demonstration by Meridian Equidance Company and as always the great food!

Although the atmosphere was one of fun and relaxation for all, there was some fierce competition all around in the show ring, and especially at the silent auction.  With over 30 competitors and 51 rides overall, Tammy Paparella and her mount Ana Capri, came away with the high score of the day, earning a  68.947%. in First Level Test 4.  Tammy also won the Training Level Championship on her mount Deliteful FHF, with an average score of  67.6%.  Earning the USDF Level Championship was Carly D’Amato riding her borrowed mount Eeyore with the score of 63.00% . The First Level Championship was awarded to Jill DiGregorio and The Real McCoy with an average score of 64.084% and Second Level and Above Championship was awarded to Darlene Dwyer riding Santana with a score of 62.263 %.   Not to be outdone on or off the horses, the competitors, spectators and volunteers duked it out over several auction items, especially The Patriots sports memorabilia including two autographed pictures and an authentic game jersey worn by retired Pat’s QB,  Steve Grogan. Some serious bidding wars over some other hot items went on as well including the Mary Kay baskets, Vt. Maple Syrup baskets,  a beautiful stained glass piece(pictured below),  several horsey T’s, and 100.00 gift certificate to a local feed store.  Along with the silent auction, the baked goods at the food tent, donated by Girls Scout Troup 30398, Edie Sanders, Sandra Ewing and Deb Gildea and family, got a lot of attention and helped raise over $200.00 alone.  In order for all of the proceeds of the day to go to Courtney, the Masons and Letter Perfect Farm donated all of the expenses for the show, and Kelli is so thankful for all of the businesses and people who donated for the silent auction, the 35 people who volunteered for this event and  riders and spectators who participated in the show.  Everyone was a true blessing for this event and for Courtney.  To keep the momentum going, the Masons would like to encourage everyone to keep praying for Courtney , her family and her friends who are helping her in her recovery.  You can send emails to Courtney at comebackcourt@gmail.com.

Many thanks goes out to the sponsors of the silent auction and show: Andrea Palumbo, Central NY Dressage & CT, Colleen Walker, CrossFit South-Central Mass, Deb May Facial, DiGregorio Design,  Designs by Noelle, Dover, Doug Scribner, Edie Sanders, Eileen Holleran, Liz Benney, Elizabeth Dufrense Photography, Equinature Products, Equine Therapy, Feeds N Needs, Jay and Deb Gildea, Jane Sheehan, Kathy Nelson, Kathy O’Leary, Kim Koran, Lendon Gray, Leonora Guguire, Leslie De Grandmaison, Mary Savage, Mrs. Flint, Nancy Russle, N.E.D.A.,The Pedlar, Platinum Performance, Rachel Grant, Reed Custum Soils, Sandra B Designs, Smart Pak Store,  The Spangenberg Family, Susan J Stickle, The Mane Place, Tom Young, Uxbridge Woman’s Club,  Uxbridge Church of the Nazarene

               For Courtney King Dye

As you may know,  our US Olympian Dressage rider Courtney King Dye was injured in early March and sustained a head injury. She was in a coma for about three weeks and is now in a rehabilitation hospital.  As  you can imagine, she has a long road to recovery ahead of her and has major medical expenses that her insurance will not cover.  Courtney has been an inspiration to us in so many ways, please help us now raise funds to support her recovery.

How can you help?

1.Pray for Courtney, for her healing, and for her family.

2.Donate items for the silent auction that will be held at the show.

3.Sponsor a class at the show.

4.Sign up for the show. We would love to have a full spectrum of Musical Freestyles to attract many visitors to help raise more funds.

5.Post any and all material regarding fund raiser at your barn, local tack shop, or local feed store.

6.Donate your time.  We have many needs to be met to make this event the most successful for Courtney.

7.Send her a Get Well email, at comebackcourt@gmail.com

For donation forms, benefit flyers, or to donate an item for the silent auction please contact Kelli, Kelli@letterperfectfarm.com or call her at 508-735-8445

6/27/09 Letter Perfect Farm Dressage Schooling Show

On Saturday, June 27, the sun came out just in time for Letter Perfect Farm to hold the first of their three dressage schooling shows of this year. The conditions were perfect for the  show,  and all of the riders enjoyed the sun, the  well run and low key atmosphere of the show, and the helpful and positive comments given by Karen Roberts “L”,  who was the judge for the day.  There were rides from Leadline to Third Level,  and two musical freestyles performed, one  at 1st level and  one at 2nd level,  which were not only exciting, but also fun to watch. Even the local deer came out of the woods to watch!!  There was a great mix of competitors and horses,  including several horses that were being showed for the first time. The High Score of the day went to Kelli Mason riding Rumours with a score of 78.750 in their First Level Musical Freestyle.   The success of each horse and rider combo,  was caught on film by Michael Hurwitz  of Prestige Sportshots,  who was the photographer of the day.    Of course no show could be a success without  the help of the many volunteers that spend the day lending a hand.  LPF is very thankful for those who took the time to volunteer at their show including: Edie Sanders and Sandra Ewing(food, runners, awards), Amy Rafferty(secretary), Alex Borden and Ali Carter(parking and ring stewards), Noelle Fowler(scribe), Alex Jameson, Mandi Gildea, Carly Dimatto,(made sure horses were happy at barn all day long!).

Letter Perfect Farm will host two more schooling shows this year, September 26 and October 17. The October show will be their Team Competition as well as their Schooling Show Championship show.  For more information and scores from this show, go to the show page . Hope to see all of you at the next show.

Letter Perfect Farm has recently upgraded it's footing in their indoor arena. After seven years, we felt that although our footing was good,  it could be better.   After an extensive look at the different footings on the market,  we decided to go with a relatively new product called Hoof Cushion.  Hoof Cushion is a sand, rubber and fiber mixture created by Custom Equstrian Footing. They have developed  it to actively recover from the impact of the horse’s movement. Their  footing blend is used to eliminate the problem of ruts and instability in the footing. The fibers act as a “root-system”, stabilizing the footing and wicking moisture down from the surface. The rubber-sand blend is a springy base material that is natural to the horse and adds cushion but not rebound. The horses LOVE IT!  LPF will also be updating their outdoor as well.  It is sure to be ready by their first show, June 2. We hope you will come check out our new footing at our clinics and shows.

Thirteen kids, ages 6-15, spent the week at LetterPerfect Farm having fun playing "horsey"games,  teaming up for "Silly Horse"competitions,  teaching their horses new tricks, land games,  and swimming in the pool.  Friday was the awards ceremony.  During the week,  we took a trip to the "Dairy Barn" for ice cream,  and we learned that we had a real live "cow whisperer" in our group !! It was a week full of horses, fun and games.

5/3/05 Finally Some news!

LPF show dates are finalized!!    We will hold our first dressage schooling show Saturday,June 4th.   The judge will be Jane Sheehan "r".  We are offering a new division this year,  which is a Green as Grass dressage test.  Basically this is for children that are ready to do a little more than lead-line,  but not a whole USDF Walk-Trot test.   If you would like a copy of the test,  just email me at Kelli@letterperfectfarm.com.    Another thing we are offering new this year,  is schooling time at our farm the day before the show.  For $25.00,   you can come school your horse in our rings and around the property.  For $50.00,  you can do a ride~critique~ride,  with Kelli Mason"L".   You must sign up in advance for either of these opportunities.  Just fill out the Friday Session part on your enty form and send them to me.  For just schooling around property,  you will get a general time to come,  for ride~critique~rides,  you will get an actual ring time.  If you have a time preference,  you need to let me know.

Kelli Had Knee Surgery!

On April 7th, Kelli underwent knee surgery.  She had torn her ACL ligament in her knee and her meniscus at some point last summer,  but it wasn't a horse related injury.  Kelli's recovery is going well,  but it will still be at least another  month until she can ride. Right now she has to wear a brace that starts at her thigh and goes all the way down to her ankle.  She is however able to give lessons,  and do some barn chores.  Kelli will be teaching a Freestyle Clinic in RI in May,  and a clinic out in NY in June.  Her whole barn staff has been very supportive and very helpful,  which will only  make her recovery easier.

LPF holds clinics with Jennifer Baumert and Jeanne McDonald.

In March of 2005,  CRDA had a clinic with Jeanne McDonald,  which was hosted by LPF.  Although a major snow storm kept more people from participating and auditing,   seven people enjoyed Jeannes wonderful and ensightful lessons for two days.   Jeanne brings with her the experience of training 3 horses to Grand Prix as well as training young horses,  the knowledge of being a USEF "S" judge,  and her training wisdom of working with some dressage greats like Carl Mikoka,  and more recently Sue Blinks and Debbie MacDonald.  She is a walking and talking information goddess that has a story and experience for everything.  Jeanne not only makes the complicated understandable,  but her positive attitude, keen eye for details, and vivacious personality helped every rider use thier seats and aids in a better way to communicate with their horses.  We are looking forward to having her back as a clinician soon,  and Jeanne will be judging our last schooling show on Oct. 29, 2005.

In April of 2005,  LPF hosted another clinic with Jennifer Baumert.  While Kelli was off in florida,  resting her leg after surgery,  Kathy O'Leary organized the clinic with Jennifer.  Riders in the clinic gained valuable knowledge while riding with Jennifer,  who spent the winter in Florida training with Conrad Schumacher. Jennifer was very impressed with all of the riders who attended the clinic and will be coming back  to LPF soon, especially if Kathy is cooking!!   LPF gives a big thanks to Kathy and Jennifer for going ahead with the clinic while Kelli was away.
